Got the green light to launch this site. It’s a concept for a WordPress theme I developed that each of the 14 Foursquare district offices could use as a regional website to communicate and serve the pastors in their region.
I was really inspired by the GOOD website during the design process, but the back-end is what I’m proud of. I used some pretty sweet plugins for the calendar (The Event Calendar) and church locator (SimpleMap), but I added a lot of custom functions that make this theme very self-sustaining, such as a dynamic staff list that updates when new users are added, custom profile fields for Facebook and Twitter that feed to various areas of the site for each user, and ten color schemes that the district van choose from if they want a slightly different look than the other districts.
Phew. That was fun.
The graphic I’m working on for an email newsletter header. Since Campaign Monitor upgraded its editor and code tags, I’ve been thinking about how to use the new features to my advantage. I’m shooting to merge three templates into one. We’ll see how it goes.
A little taste of a comp I’m working on for a redesign of the Foursquare.org homepage.
I think I’m leaning toward this comp over the other, but that doesn’t mean anything. I could wake up tomorrow morning and scrap both ideas.
A portion of the homepage design I’m working on for a WordPress theme. Still a long way to go on this one.
A design I’m working on for a homepage banner on Foursquare.org to promote the email templates we released last week. I’m not extremely happy with the lines in the envelope and know they can be cleaned up quite a bit around the edges, but I like where it’s headed.
This is a new sidebar I’m working on for Foursquare.org org. The old new style brings in some subtle CSS3 magic by working in a gradient background, drop shadows and rounded corners. The site is pretty blunt when it comes to color and lines, so this kind of softens things up a bit.
This is making its first appearance in the Leadership Tools section of the site where we post reviews of resources, but we’ll be rolling it out in other places throughout the week.
Wrapped up the landing pages for the Campaign Monitor rebrand I’ve been working on. For some reason, the Sign Up form was the peskiest portion of the entire project, but this otherwise was a real joy to do.
Between the design, code and copywriting for this and the email templates that drove this project, the last week feels like it blew by in a single day.
A teaser of the overview page for a Campaign Monitor rebrand I’m working on for Foursquare.
I feel like I’ve been working on a lot of email templates lately, but this one’s going to be pretty different.
It will be the first template Foursquare will provide to local churches to create and send their own emails. We’re going to package up the HTML, spliced images and layered Photoshop files and let churches customize it however they’d like and use it on whatever platform they like most. We’ll also code a version tagged specifically for Campaign Monitor and allow churches to send their emails through our account.
Really love how this new email template is evolving. Just a few quick fixes, then it’s on to code!
